Carroll St. Brooklyn N.Y
Repair Type - nail up
Finish - Tin Finish
Various patterns to match existing

The owners of this top floor apartment in a 3 family home wanted to restore the existing 90 year old tin ceiling back to its original appearance. Thru the years the tin ceiling deteriorated due to past roof leaks and opening up parts of the ceiling to run new electrical lines. We first secured the existing wood framing and added new wood framing to ensure proper support for tin panels and to create solid nailing for tin panels. We had in stock the same pattern sheets and cornice so that once the ceiling is painted the repair will be undetectable.

Rail Bar Howard Beach, New York - Air Train Stop
Pattern 209
Cornice 802 & 807
Type Nail Up
Finish - Copper Plated

The owner of this bar was looking for a specific style and decided to use the copper plated materials. We installed wood framing with 1” X 2” wood furring 12” on center throughout area. Pattern #209 was nailed to wood furring. We secured cornice #802 to 75% of the perimeter of the area. We used the smaller cornice to be able to create a neat smooth installation at all of the curves around the perimeter (as seen in photos). Over the bar we used cornice #807 which is larger than the #802 but does a good job of identifying the bar area. The larger cornice also fit well with the height of the ceiling and the size of the space. The owner was pleased with the job and said the tin ceiling was the perfect finishing touch for his bar.

Tin Finish

The objective was to modernize this landmark building with new heating, electrical, plumbing, and air conditioning. In order to perform this work the existing tin ceiling needed to be removed on the 1st and 2nd floors. The owners wanted the new tin ceiling to look the same as what was existing. First we went in and took pictures of the existing ceilings to refer back to when we’re installing the new tin ceiling. When it was time to install the tin ceilings we started framing the ceilings, soffits, and skylights with 1” X2” wood furring. We layed out the ceiling making sure to make it symmetrical and that the lights were equally spaced and in the functional locations. This was accomplished while keeping the finished product as close to the original tin ceiling as possible. In the photo’s you can see that filler #410 was used at all perimeters because pattern #505 is to deep for cornice to be directly attached to.

Steel Suspended
Snap in 2' x 2'

This project we worked along with the architects to design a tin ceiling that would be able to have all the mechanicals in the ceiling and have accessibility throughout the ceiling for repairs and maintenance. The steel suspended tin ceiling with the snap up pans was perfect for their needs. The suspended ceiling provided all the room that was needed above the ceiling and the removable snap up pans provided the access throughout the field of the ceiling. Even with the snap up system you can see that it still looks like an original tin ceiling.

Pattern 508

Filler 4574
Cornice 705
Tin Finish Painted White Type Nail up 2" x 3" wood studs

This customer selected a coffered panel tin ceiling. This installation requires a wood framing that provides 2-1/2” for each panel. We used 2” X3” wood studs to create the framing for every 2’ X2’, 1’ X2’, and 1’X1’ panel. We layed out the ceiling, spacing the lights equally and creating a unique symmetrical layout with the different sized panels. The filler and cornice create a flat border for the coffered field of the ceiling. The finished tin ceiling adds a interesting look to this 1000 square foot kitchen.
